Sterile Processing Technician (Non FF)

Prepare for an entry-level position as a sterile processing technician, also known as central sterile technicians! These specialized healthcare professionals decontaminate, sterilize, inspect and assemble reusable surgical instruments and healthcare devices. Topics include infection control, sterilization and packaging of surgical equipment, record keeping and compliance, quality control practices, inventory management and knowledge related to each specific medical instrument/device.  Program requires classroom knowledge plus 400 hours of documented clinical experience in various competency areas.

Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) credential exam offered by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM). 

Admission Requirements
  • Documentation of GED or High School Diploma.
  • Be at least 18 years of age on the first day of class.
  • Acceptable background check and drug screen prior to clinical. Proof of immunizations and physical exam may be required depending on clinical site. 
  • Attend a coaching appointment prior to enrollment.
  • Complete CASAS assessments to demonstrate reading and math proficiency.
  • Complete all funding assistance paperwork (if applicable) prior to enrollment.
  • Meet minimum essential functions and standards for program.
