While the primary purpose of this workshop is to aid job seekers in obtaining employment, ancillary benefits include the enhancement of participants’ self-efficacy, self-esteem and social assertiveness. Training covers: Active/learning skills that include preparing, researching and practicing for the job search; inoculation against setback including how to anticipate possible barriers and overcome those barriers thorough problem solving; social support including how to collaborate on the job with peers and supervisors; enhanced self-efficacy including how to identify, assess, and utilize specific skills necessary to retain a job; and referent power, which is the ability to build trust and reduce social distance.
