Funding may be available to offset the tuition cost for individuals who meet eligibility requirements. Funding is limited and therefore distributed on a first-come, first-come basis.
To apply for funding for this class, enroll in the class for the FastForward Funding Application, answer all of the questions, and select Add to Cart to submit your application. After you submit this form, you will receive an email with a secure document upload link and list of required documents. Email sbayker@pvcc.edu when all required documents have been uploaded.
WCG Grant: Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application.
G3/FANTIC Initiative: The G3 and FANTIC programs makes it possible for Virginians with low or modest income to pursue jobs in high-demand fields. Funding covers an additional 1/3 of the course tuition.

Class Description
Electronic Medical Records Specialists compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients. This course is designed to teach you skills in patient charting, insurance and billing, electronic health record management and HIPAA compliance.
Course Objectives:
- Learn to manage patient visits, arrange follow-up care, and issue prescriptions.
- Keep track of vital information such as patient allergies and medications.
- Understand hos to best reach and interpret health records.
- Learn how to communicate with patients and report public health information.
National Healthcareer Association (NHA) is one of the nation's largest allied health certification providers. Individuals who pass their certification exam will be recognized as Nationally Certified Healthcare professionals and will earn credentials to use with their name, a certification ID card, and a certificate. To be eligible to earn an NHA certification, a candidate must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.
