This is a hybrid course with 20 hours online. Enhance employment opportunities by learning basic welding skills! The program emphasizes welding safety procedures and using a variety of welding machines to gain a working understanding of the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process. Students will weld joints in the following positions: flat plate (1G), horizontal (2g), vertical up (3G), and overhead (4g) positions. Upon completion, students are eligible to qualify for the D1.1 SMAW plate welder credential offered by the American Welding Society (AWS).
Program is designed for students with no previous experience in welding and those with limited welding experience who wish to upgrade their skills.
Note: Students must dress in work boots and fitted cotton clothing with no nylon properties. All protective equipment will be provided for use during class. There is a one-hour meal break.
