Unmanned aerial systems (UAS), more commonly known as drones, are expanding into numerous commercial operations including precision agriculture, aerial imagery and cinematography, construction, inspection and aerial surveys. This course is designed to provide entry-level operator training on the commercial application of drones. Topics include regulatory requirements, operating rules, registration rules, regulatory waivers, airspace classifications and operational requirements, effects of weather on performance, loading and performance, radio communications, airport operations, emergency procedures, aeronautical decision-making, physiological factors, maintenance and inspection procedures. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to sit for the Remote Pilot Airman – Part 107 credential exam offered by the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA). This certification and vetting by the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) is required to legally operate a drone for non-hobby activities.

Note: TSA may require a criminal background check.
